Sticks and Stones (Watch Mr. Wizard).
Mr. Wizard demonstrates the basic geology of rocks to Buzz, by creating a tabletop volcano and explaining the difference between igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks.
Cast: Don Herbert (Mr. Wizard) and Bruce Podewell (Buzz).
Very good explications and easy to understand. Mr. Wizard don`t make a show of I, Me and Myself.
In the 30 minutesd show there is no commercial. Very enjoyable even today.

A catalog site for Classic TV shows
If you like Classic TV from of the 50's, I found a catalog site that makes it easy to find and watch episodes streaming from Archive.org at:
I admit that I was taken quite by suprise when I first watched this. There were several eductional shows during the 50's/60's, but they mainly aired on NET (which later morphed into PBS). To see a major network show of this kind was rather unusual. The previous reviewer is right, a lot of this info in this broadcast is still relevant.

Loved watching this - it covered all essential aspects of rocks. The content is still relevent today.
There seemed to be a great rapport between the young boy and Mr. Wizard. It seems a pity, if the previous reviewer's comment is true, that this was rehersed ad nausium before filming.
The whole film comes across as being very natural and not really staged at all - although it was. A very easy educational film to watch.

Interesting, educational …
… and still fun to watch after 55 years.
I was somewhat disappointed when I learned that the children on his show just acted out what they've been rehearsing for hours prior to the live telecast. But then again it was silly to assume otherwise.
Original air date was August 7, 1954.
